Thou shalt love

Die Sprache der Liebe stottert. Sie existiert letztlich nur in eine Reihung von Bruchstücken: den Szenen.

Die Künstlerinnen Reka Gold und Annette Sonnewend zeigen Arbeiten, die den Diskurs der Liebe zum Thema haben. Sie bearbeiten Fragen wie: Sind wir zur permanenten Wiederholung von Stereotypen und Katastrophen verdammt? Die Sprache der Liebe vollzieht sich in Floskeln, schreibt Roland Barthes, sie ist eine uralte auch historische Sprachmaschine des Banalen. Im Leben des Liebenden ist das Gewebe der Begebenheiten von einer unglaublichen Belanglosigkeit … „Wenn ich mir ernsthaft ausmale, mich wegen eines Telefonanrufes, der nicht kommt, umzubringen, ergibt sich daraus eine ebenso große Obszönität, wie wenn der Papst bei de Sade einen Truthahn sodomisiert.“ (aus: Roland Barthes, Fragmente einer Sprache der Liebe). Aber bereits dieser Vergleich gehorcht, weil er unterhaltsam und interessant ist, schon nicht mehr der Flachheit und Plattheit des Diskurses der Liebe.

Neuromantics lädt einTexte zum Thema Liebe zu lesen und zu diskutieren: Ist die Liebe gefunden oder erfunden, was ist ihr Verhältnis zu Wahrheit, Freude und Ethik? Die von Emma Gradin (London) und Annette Sonnewend ausgewählten AutorInnen sind:
Alain Badiou, Roland Barthes, Luce Irigaray, Erica Jing und Seneca. Es wird nicht vorausgesetzt, dass die AutorInnen bekannt sind. Ziel ist nicht zusammenzufassen oder schlusszufolgern, sondern Verbindungen zwischen den Texten zu erforschen.

Neuromantics are a curatorial collective researching and presenting work with an immersive relationship to local and distant places and processes that explores different states of consciousness in space and time; physical and cognitive aspects of artistic- and other types of work. Emma Gradin (Stockholm/London) is a freelance curator and researches specialism and deceleration in the making and experience of art.

Neuromantics invite participants to read and discuss texts on the subject of love: Is it found or made and what are its relations to truth, happiness and ethics? No previous knowledge of the authors is required and the aim is to explore links between works rather than summarise or reach conclusions. Authors include Alain Badiou, Roland Barthes, Luce Irigaray, Erica Jong and Seneca. Texts and discussions are in English, selected by Emma Gradin and Annette Sonnewend.
