The Future of Memory (Die Zukunft der Erinnerung), die transnationale, städteübergreifende, interdisziplinäre Plattform zum Gedenken an den Holocaust und Porajmos durch Kunst und Medien in Rumänien und der Republik von Moldawien, wird vom 2.- 4. November in Berlin eine Auswahl ihrer Ausstellungen und Programme, ihres Vorgehens und ihrer Umsetzungsmethodik präsentieren.

2. November 17 – 20 Uhr, Institut für Europäische Ethnologie/ Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Möhrenstr. 40/41): Filmvorführung „My Illusions“ (Meine Illusionen) wurde im Rahmen von The Future of Memory produziert, gefolgt von einer Diskussion innerhalb der Veranstaltungsreihe “Cinematic Memory, Debates on History Politics and Struggles for Recognition. Focus Romania/ Filmische Erinnerung, geschichtspolitische Debatten und Kämpfe um Anerkennung. Fokus Rumänien.” Mit Olga Stefan, Katia Pascariu und Roland Ibold.
„Iluziile mele/My Illusions“, Produzentin: Olga Stefan, in Zusammenarbeit mit Ileana Szasz und Vârsta4. Dokumentarfilm, 55min, rumänisch, mit englischen Untertiteln
Der Film präsentiert die persönlichen Geschichten der Bewohner des Moses Rosen Altenheims in Bukarest und führt uns durch das jüdische Viertel an die Orte, wo sich 1941 während des Pogroms Szenen antisemitischer Gewalt abspielten, in die Häuser der Film Subjekte und vor die Gebäude, die eine wichtige Rolle im Leben der jüdischen Gemeinde spielten.

3. November:
15 – 20 Uhr – SCOTTY: Auswahl von projizierten Bildern der künstlerischen Arbeiten, die in den fünf Städten, in denen The Future of Memory agierte ausgestellt wurden, unter anderem von Hedda Sterne, Willy Pragher, Marcel Ianco, Alex Leon, Paul Fux, Razvan Anton, Samy Briss, Benno Friedel. Archiv von Texten und ein Film wird auf einem Bildschirm gezeigt.
18 Uhr – Scotty’s Podiumsdiskussion mit dem The Future of Memory Team – Was war und was wird die Zukunft der Erinnerung sein?

4. November:
15 – 22 Uhr – SCOTTY: Auswahl von projizierten Bildern der künstlerischen Arbeiten, die in den fünf Städten, in denen The Future of Memory agierte ausgestellt wurden, unter anderem von Hedda Sterne, Willy Pragher, Marcel Ianco, Alex Leon, Paul Fux, Razvan Anton, Samy Briss, Benno Friedel. Archiv von Texten und ein Film wird auf einem Bildschirm gezeigt.
16 Uhr – „The game of similar histories – performing our collective memory “ („Das Spiel von ähnlichen Geschichten – unsere kollektive Erinnerung darstellen“) – Ein Spiel, das für die Platform „The Future of Memory“ im Juni 2017 von Ioana Florea und Katia Pascariu kreiert wurde, von dem bekannten Dixit Kartenspiel inspiriert; doch hier gibt es keine Gewinner oder Verlierer. Wir laden die Spieler dazu ein, sich Gedanken, Geschichten, Ideen und Gefühle, basierend auf Bildern und Text Stücken, vorzustellen, zu kreieren, zu lernen und miteinander zu teilen. Wir bringen die Karten, alles andere findet zusammen statt.  
Wie können wir mit all der Last der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart in einer besseren Welt leben? Minimum 5 Spieler, Maximum 12, dauert eineinhalb Stunden. Um mit uns zu spielen bitte bis zum 31. Oktober bei katia_pascariu@yahoo.com anmelden.
18 Uhr – Filmvorstellung des Videos „Fragments of a Life“ („Fragmente eines Lebens“), gefolgt von einer Diskussion.

Fragments of a Life ist ein Video, das intime Familiengespräche zwischen Olga Stefan und ihrer Großmutter Sorana Ursu (jetzt 92) mit Filmmaterial, Fotografien und anderen Bildern aus der Vergangenheit und der Gegenwart kombiniert und somit eine Sammlung von Erinnerungen und Eindrücken kreiert, die gleichzeitig historische Ereignisse belegen und ablehnen. Durch den persönlichen Bericht von Sorana Ursu, deren Vater 1941 während der Iasi Pogrom getötet wurde, nebst denen von anderen Familienmitgliedern, die jetzt in Israel und den USA leben, werden biografische Fragmente zusammengestellt, in einem verzweifelten Versuch eine zusammenhängende Erzählung des Lebens zu schaffen und dabei das unvollständige Bild der Realität, das sie präsentieren anzuerkennen, sowie auch die Formbarkeit des Gedächtnisses und die Tragik des Vergessens, die ein natürlicher Teil des Überlebens ist.

Zu allen Veranstaltungen ist der Eintritt frei.

The film presents the personal stories of the residents of the Moses Rosen Retirement Home in Bucharest, taking us through the Jewish quarter, in the areas where scenes of antisemitic violence took place during the 1941 pogrom, at the houses of the film’s subjects, and in front of the buildings that played an important role in the life of the Jewish community.

4pm – „The game of similar histories – performing our collective memory „- A game created for the platform „The Future of Memory“ in June 2017 by Ioana Florea and Katia Pascariu, it is inspired by the well-known Dixit card game but has no winner or losers. We invite the players to imagine, create, learn and share thoughts, stories, ideas, and feelings based on images and pieces of text.  We bring the cards and the rest we make together. How can we live in a better world with all the baggage of our past and present? Minimum 5 players, maximum 12, lasts an hour and a half.  To play with us, enroll by October 31 at katia_pascariu@yahoo.com.

“ Fragments of a Life“

Fragments of a Life is a video combining intimate family conversations between Olga Stefan and her grandmother, Sorana Ursu (now 92), with footage, photographs, and other images from the past and present, creating an assemblage of memories and impressions that both support and reject historical events. Through the personal account of Sorana Ursu, whose father was killed during the 1941 Iasi pogrom, along with those of other members of the family now in Israel and the United States, biographical fragments are pieced together in a desperate attempt to establish a coherent narrative of life, while acknowledging the incomplete image of reality they present, the malleability of memory, and the tragedy of forgetting that is an inherent part of survival.

All events at Humbodt University and SCOTTY are free and open to the public.
